Before there was ever a story, there was always a team.  Anna Christopher, Brenda Weiermair and Dominique Martinez met during the first week of grad school in September of 2003 at the American Film Institute.  By November, they had made THE GOOD FAIRY, a DV short, and couldn’t wait to work together again.  Similarly, Anna and Sarah Broshar collaborated long before QUEEN OF CACTUS COVE, as filmmakers at Northwestern University during their undergraduate film studies.

There they co-directed and edited SOLE TO BOWL, a bowling shoes documentary, and NEW YORK TO DETROIT, an adaptation of a Dorothy Parker story.

By the end of 2004, it was time to assemble a team; a team that would collaborate on the script development and production of a thesis short film.  In selecting partners, Anna, Brenda, Dominique, and Sarah each asked themselves who they would enjoy working with for an entire year, who had the capacity to make a film that would allow their talents to shine and grow, who they trusted to dedicate themselves to the process, and, finally, who they could laugh with even when things got tough.  The answer was easy.  The inherent respect, artistic inspiration and true collaboration that these four women discovered in their previous alliances was a gift none of them wanted to waste.   Anna, Brenda, Dominique, and Sarah signed on to the same project and to each other.
